Sir
Clough served with the Welsh Guards as a tank commander during
the first world war, winning the Military Cross and bar. However,
despite the destruction and bloodshed, he always wanted to be
an architect and maintained the hope of finding a place somewhere
in the world where he could work with nature to create the vision
he had in his mind. He visited countries in the Southern hemisphere
in an attempt to find such a site, but thankfully in the end he
came home to Wales. |
